Recently I’ve been digging into Nuggets (get it?), the great compilation set of 60’s garage rock and psychedelic songs originally put together by Lenny Kaye. So much great stuff! Here’s one favorite. Obviously pretty song Beatles influence here.

The first time I heard the song I thought it was The Beatles. Great song.

Yes! Definitely sounds like it could have been an outtake from one of the Fab Four’s early albums

I wish The Beatles had played around and done the song just for kicks.

To me this is a hard rocker that has definite pre punk flourishes.

Interesting observation! I also hear the Beatles from their early period, if a bit more hard edged and raucous which is perhaps what you are referring to. Thanks for comment

Oh yeah…the early Beatles reference is definitely there. People say they hear The Beatles in Green Day. I hear The Knickerbockers. It’s a fine distinction. Everybody was channeling The Beatles in those days and rightfully so.
