Just coming in under the wire for today. I’ve always loved this Steve Earle song. Protagonist of song is a total screw up who always forgets to do the stuff you’re supposed to do on Valentine’s Day – no flowers, no candy, no card.
” I know that I swore that I wouldn’t forget… I wrote it all down… I lost it I guess…”
But he just lays it all out there for his love about how he feels. Very touching and gets at the real meaning of the day.
“The way you love me everyday… is Valentine’s Day”
Husband and wife team Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks (of Allman Brothers) put together a 12 piece band about 8 years ago and play great blend of rock and blues and inspired live shows of originals and covers. Here’s a new one
Some piano music for this Sunday morning from German pianist and composer Hauschka (Volker Bertelmann). From his just released album A Different Forest.
If you were a fan of Canadian music in the 1990s you might remember these guys. Their album “God Shuffled His Feet“ was/is a favorite of mine. Good Sunday morning song from that one.
So apparently, today is international Clash day and in celebration of the 40th anniversary ,this year, of the release of London Calling, here’s one of my favorite songs by the Clash.
( also one of the greatest all-time album covers )
Finally warming up (relatively speaking) from the deep freeze of the past week – here’s a piece that captures the feeling of the sun out and the temperature rising – time to be getting up and doing stuff.
When I was about 14, I asked for music by The Beatles for a Christmas present. I was thinking White Album but what I got was a compilation called Beatles Love Songs which was fine but not exactly the Rock and Roll I had in mind. Norwegian Wood was on that album and I was “ meh” about the song.
Well, chalk it up to youthful stupidity. This song is amazing.
