Just beginning to get into this band. So far I’m thinking a little bit of a Avett Brothers meets the Grateful Dead kind of vibe. Their most recent album is getting some play on the satellite radio station I listen to on Sirius. Here’s a live performance of one of the songs I really like.

Song of the Day 2/16/20 John Moreland “East October”
Apparently this artist has been a bit of a cult favorite for a while and this was my introduction to him. Heard a review on NPR while I was driving my granddaughter around at 7 o’clock in the morning to get her to sleep. So far I think it’s brilliant
Song of the Day 2/9/20 Nada Surf “Something I should do”
These guys have been a round for a while. They had a semi hit long ways back called Popular. Heard about their new album on NPR. I’ve listen to about half the album so far. Really liking it.
Song of the Day 2/6/20 (TBT) Rolling Stones “She’s so Cold”
It’s been a little while since I’ve highlighted the Rolling Stones.
Song of the Day 1/30/20 (TBT) The Alarm “Rescue Me”
Perfect example song from the 80s that I still love.
Song of the Day 1/23/20 (TBT) Supertramp “Bloody Well Right”
This one brings back memories. Love the opening keyboard part
Song of the Day 1/18/20 Best Coast “Everything Has Changed)
Something New from a really good band. I like the “optimism” in this song.
Song of the Day 1/16/20 (TBT……sort of) Foo Fighters “Everlong”
One of my favorite Foo fighter songs and this is a fantastic acoustic version
TBT Rainbow – Since You Been Gone
Going back to my high school days for this one – just popped into my head yesterday which of course makes it a great entry for today. I remember hearing this on the radio back in 1979 and immediately loving the simple guitar riff that underlies the rest of the song. I always thought this was a Rainbow song (although admittedly its the only song by them I know) but the Internet tells me that it was originally done by Russ Ballard in 1976 and subsequently covered by a number of bands before and after Rainbow’s version.
Song of the Da 1/5/20 Son Volt “Devil May Care”
I’m a sucker for groups that came out of the 90’s alt-country movement. Here’s a good Sunday morning song from one of my favorites
