Its a rainy Sunday afternoon here – some how this song felt right.
Its a rainy Sunday afternoon here – some how this song felt right.
Seeing Mumford & Songs tonight! Saw them for the first time on their last tour – this song was one of the concert highlights for me. Here’s hoping they play it again.
From his new album of solo performances from 1976. As timely now as it was then.
In honor of the 50th anniversary this past week of Van Morrison’s classic album Astral Weeks, let go with something from it. After listening to it, you could do worse on a Sunday morning than just putting the entire album on!
Throwing way back today – the 1988 cover version of this by The Fall popped up on a Spotify playlist the other day. Figured I would go with the original, from their 1969 album Arthur (or The Decline and Fall of the British Empire)
Mike and Paul’s Music Blog is seeing Steve Earle tonight! He’ll be playing Copperhead Head in its entirety. He’s my favorite track from that album.
I remember buying this album in 1992 for one of the other songs on it that I had heard on the radio and then being blown away by this song – one of those songs I could put on unlimited repeat and not get tired of. One of the YouTube comments for this song says “Bob Mould is Jesus, and anyone who doesn’t agree has cloth ears or hates music” – ok, kind of extreme but with this song I’m not going to argue very much.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone !!
Continuing to listen to Steve Earle discography to prep for next week’s concert! This one is another favorite one of mine. Off his comeback album of sorts, I Feel Alright (which may be my second favorite album of his after Exit 0). The thing that puts this song over the finish line for me (or the icing on the cake if you will) is the Springsteen Rosalita reference right towards end!
The Wild Reeds are a alt country/folk female trio from Los Angeles. I really love their vocal harmonies – here’s one from their most recent EP New Ways to Die
I’ve been listening to a lot of Steve Earle lately in preparation for seeing him in a few weeks. I think of all of his songs this is my favorite – off his second album Exit 0
“I said no thanks Pete I’m just moving along.” !!!!!
