The Clash are one of the few punk bands I like.

It’s always been interesting to me that they are mainly thought of as a punk band since musically they were so much more wide ranging than just punk. Now the Sex Pistols – definitely punk. But the Clash are much more versatile!

Frankly, that’s probably why I like the Clash, based on the songs I’ve heard. In general, punk just doesn’t do for me!😀

I hear you although if there is enough of a melody in the song and not just thrashing instruments and screaming vocals I can sometimes get into it depending on my mood.

I’m 100% with you on melody. While I’m also generally not much into heavy metal, I like some of the Guns ‘N Roses songs because they have great melodies – same for the many of the heavy tunes from the Scorpions.
