This one, from their 1980 album Remain in Light, takes me back to college and my friend Kathy who lived on the second floor of our dorm. She was the one who broadened my musical frontiers so to speak, and introduced me to Talking Heads, The Clash and so many other bands. Hell at one point we even drove down to DC for a Laurie Anderson show. This ones for you Kathy wherever you may be.
Helping us recall past occasions in our lives perhaps is the most powerful thing music can do. I mostly know Talking Heads from their hits. I guess the big one on this album was “Once In A Lifetime.”

Yes correct. Totally agree re power of music to anchor lifetime memories. There are certain songs where upon hearing it I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard it. And not just for major life events.

My friend Kathy from college I nreally consider one of several touchstone in terms of my music “education”. So expanded my horizons and contributed to the music fan I am today.

Don’t forget ambient music by Brian Eno!

Right! I was actually thinking about that this morning. Good candidate for a Sunday morning song choice

Seems like a hard track to play live, too.
