Something really nice and mellow from Tom Petty’s first band a recent side project
A quiet piece from Icelandic composer Olafur Arnalds. Saman is a Persian word meaning calm or solace. Seems appropriate for a snowy Sunday morning here in the DC metro area.
Thes guys from England can really bring the noise. This is one of their less “noisy” songs.
One of my all time favorite Clash songs from the album that first brought them to my attention. This will always remind me of Freshman year At LaSalle
From 1982’s classic Nebraska, probably the most “upbeat” song on the album. There’s a bootleg album out there called Nebraska Live where Bruce in introducing this song, tells a hilarious story about having to go to traffic court and after listening the guy in front of him plead his case for why he was doing 60mph on a residential street (he was drunk and thought it was the highway!) and then its Bruce’s turn, he says “well, Judge…” and then rips into a great version of the song. Anyway, I digress. I used to love to blast this song on my car stereo on those nighttime commutes between DC and Philly.
Kind of a “when the going gets tough….” sort of song with a little bit of a gospel feel.
This is the second time I featured Billy Joel on Sunday morning. This is actually one of my all-time favorite songs by BJ.
I featured Nils Frahm last year – here’s another selection off his album All Melody. Another perfect song for a quiet early Sunday morning
its been about 10 years since the Raconteurs released new music but one of my favorite Jack White projects is back. Love his guitar in both of these songs
