Song of the Day 1/27/19 Los Lobos “Set Me Free”

It seems like it’s been  100 weeks in a row of cloudy Sundays so when I woke up and saw the sunshine this morning I knew I wanted something a little more upbeat than my usual Sunday morning pic. This is the song from their 1987 album “By the Light of the Moon“  This was the album that introduced me to Los Lobos .

Song of the Day 1/26/19 Old 97s “Murder (or a Heart Attack)”

Great band from Texas it’s been around more than 20 years it always seems to just be on the edge of making it big. Kind of rock, kind of country, kind of punk, and this one’s a little bit more on the side of pop.

Song of the Day Sunday Edition 1/20/19 Lana Del Ray – hope is a dangerous thing

The full song title is hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have – but I have it.

Can’t say I know much of Lana Del Ray music but heard her new single and that I was a amazing performance – not vocal wise but just the lyrics and the way she delivers them.

Song of the Day 1/19/19 Teenage Bottlerocket “They Call Me Steve”

I heard this song for the first time yesterday while I was on the treadmill and it made me chuckle. The woman on the next machine gave me a look like I was a little nuts. Great song from a punk band from that hotbed of punk music…… Wyoming.

Song of the Day 1/18/19 The Weakerthans “Sun in an Empty Room”

This is from their 2007 album, Reunion Tour. I really just like the image that the title suggests. Former members of a politically voiced punk band formed the Weakerthans and produced much more introspective music like this one and “ A Cat Named Virtute” (Frank Turner fans my recognize that one)

Song of the Day TBT 1/17/19 Lone Justice – Ways To Be Wicked

Recently fellow blogger Aphoristical posted about great singers and I threw out Maria McKee’s name of Lone Justice. Got me re-listening to them – here’s a standout from the self titled debut in 1985. Sadly the band was short lived and she never had the success her talent warranted (imho)
