Song of the Day 7/6/19 Summer Saturday Song Series Tom Petty“Running Down a Dream”

For me, good summer song and a good driving song are one and the same. Sun shining, windows down, sunglasses on with just the right tune. This all checks all the boxes for me. Mike Campbell’s killer guitar Solo at the end of the song is not to be missed.

Song of the Day – X 4th of July

There a bunch of songs that would work for today – chose this one as I have always loved it and it’s not super well known (at least to the masses). Off X‘s 1987 album See How We Are. Written by Dave Alvin who brought it with him from his previous group The Blasters.

Happy 4th to all my fellow American music bloggers! And happy Thursday to everyone else!

Song of the Day (TBT) 6/27/19 The Replacements “I’ll Be You”

Last week Paul chose  a song by Big Star for his throwback. The lead singer of Big Star was Alex Chilton. The Replacements wrote a song called Alex Chilton so I decided to play a song by The Replacements. That’s how this happened

Song of the Day TBT Boston – Peace of Mind

Been having some great discussion with Rich at KamerTunesBlog about Boston’s first album so thought it appropriate to feature my favorite song from it today.  While by my current tastes the production on this album may be a bit slick and self indulgent, listening to it takes me right back to 8th grade and a lot of great times and the beginnings of my life-long love of music in general.  And production aside, its just a great kick ass song!
