Not throwing back too far this week. There have been a lot of opinions about Courtney Love over the years. What’s not in dispute (imho) is that Hole’s 1998 album Celebrity Skin is a great one. This is one of my favorites off of it.
This song seemed right for a overcast somewhat gloomy morning.
This one, from their 1980 album Remain in Light, takes me back to college and my friend Kathy who lived on the second floor of our dorm. She was the one who broadened my musical frontiers so to speak, and introduced me to Talking Heads, The Clash and so many other bands. Hell at one point we even drove down to DC for a Laurie Anderson show. This ones for you Kathy wherever you may be.
Tim Hecker is a Canadian electronic musician and sound artist. To me this song perfectly captures the tension of a Sunday morning, perched between looking forward to the week ahead while considering the week that has just concluded. Sometimes the minutiae and details from the past week keep intruding on the contemplative state Sunday morning music usually brings.

From their debut album this song has all it all – Moon’s barely in control drumming, Entwistle’ bass solo, Townshend’s power chords and Daltrey’s stuttering vocals. About as classic as you can get!
Here’s a great power pop song to get you going on a Tuesday. A little more on the hard edge of power pop but I’ll take it. Last Great Dreamers are an English band that first formed in the 90s, broke up and looks like reformed in 2014.
