I was absolutely shocked when I heard this story on NPR this week – it’s beyond comprehension the scale of the loss. It’s was a gut punch to realize that the original masters for so many legendary artists are gone forever. And for Universal to keep it quiet the extent of the loss borders on criminal.
I’ve mentioned before that my eighth grade son plays in his middle school orchestra. I love how his orchestra director always tries to include a pop or rock song as part of their concerts. Here’s Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir from their end of the year performance.
Going way way back for this classic from the rock and roll cannon. Stating the obvious, but what a incredible tragedy that Holly died so young. Just think of all the fantastic music that he may have gone one to make.
Sometimes you pick up a song in the strangest place. I was watching an old episode of the TV show new girl on Netflix the other day and I heard this song in the background. I Shazammed it to find out that it was recorded by a huge band worldwide that I had never heard of. Not exactly a Sunday morning song but I found it really catchy. (I’m still trying to translate the Spanish)
The Saturday Summer Song Series continues With a song we’ve all heard 1000 times. But let’s face it. It’s really catchy and it is soooooo hard to get out of your head. Here’s a Great live version
Classic track from the highly influential but under-appreciated (at the time) band. I first became aware of them from the Replacements song Alex Chilton.
